House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-7th, said during an interview today on the CBS This Morning that the U.S. House of Representatives will bring a measure to the floor next week that will “ensure that taxes don’t go up on anybody.”
Cantor supports extending the so-called Bush-era tax cuts to people at all income levels, while the U.S. Senate recently approved a measure that extends the tax rates to families making less than $250,000 a year.
President Barack Obama has also called for an extension of the tax cuts for families making less than $250,000 a year. The rates are set to rise Jan. 1.
Later in the CBS interview, Cantor, who in another recent interview said his party should promote tolerance, was asked whether Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., was “out of line.”
Bachmann and four other lawmakers in June penned letters to the inspectors general of various federal government agencies regarding the Muslim Brotherhood.
Cantor said “I think that if you … read some of the reports that have covered the story I think that her concern was about the security of the country. So that’s about all I know.”
