GOP U.S. Senate candidate George Allen is up with another new TV ad, and like the two before it, the positive 30-second spot features a woman speaking on behalf of the former governor.

Titled “Kay,” the ad features Kay Coles James, a former Secretary of Health and Human Resources under Allen, who praises his work on welfare reform as governor.

“Well, if you know George Allen at all, you know he’s tenacious,” says James, who is a co-chair of the campaign’s “Ambassadors for Allen.” “And if he believes in something and believes in something strongly, he’s going to work at it, and work until it’s done.”

She adds: “Welfare reform was not easy and people told us constantly it couldn’t be done. There are a lot of politicians who talk about working across party lines to get things done. George Allen has done it. He’s got a proven record and he’ll take that to Washington with him.”

The ad is part of the Allen’s summer-long “Virginia Voices” initiative, featuring a website, social media tools and ads featuring testimonials from people who know Allen personally.

Allen’s campaign plans to spend almost $1 million on the initiative.

“It’s not surprising that George Allen would be endorsed by his own political appointees,” responded Kaine campaign spokeswoman Lily Adams. “But Virginia voters need look no further than George Allen’s last senate term, where he opposed major bipartisan initiatives and compromise, to know what kind of senator George Allen would be if he wins reelection.”
