After spending time with Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in Utah this weekend, Gov. Bob McDonnell will join the former Massachusetts governor again this week in Loudoun County.

Romney is scheduled to hold an event Wednesday afternoon at EIT LLC, an electronic design and production services company in Sterling. He was in the Roanoke area today, appearing at Carter Machinery in Salem.

McDonnell was unable to make today’s event because of a previously scheduled engagement — a fundraiser in Washington for Romney’s campaign.

McDonnell, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, is often mentioned as a vice presidential possibility and he was asked about it again this morning on WTOP radio in Washington.

“I’m not discussing the vice presidential vetting process,” McDonnell said in the latest version of his answer to a question he’s fielding quite often these days.

“There apparently is a vetting process, and I’m just not going to discuss it. You can address those questions to the Romney campaign.”

“I think the next thing you’ll hear from me is congratulating whoever is selected as vice president.”
