We told you last week that Gov. Bob McDonnell was scheduled to appear at a reception with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who faces a recall election next week.

Well, McDonnell never made it.

Storms grounded his plane in Washington and after spending hours on the tarmac, he eventually returned to Richmond.

“I sat on the tarmac for three hours at Dulles and I could not get off the ground,” McDonnell told reporters this week. “I was hoping to be there.”

McDonnell is chairman of the Republican Governors Association, which has spent
about $8 million on the race in Wisconsin that pits Walker against Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, a Democrat. The election is June 5.

RGA business has McDonnell out of state today and tomorrow, as he attends meetings in Houston and Dallas.
