Republican U.S. Senate candidate George Allen raised more than $1.4 million in the first quarter of 2012, his campaign reported Tuesday, and his cash on hand is $2.66 million.

Allen was again outraised by Democratic nominee Timothy M. Kaine, whose campaign reported earlier in the day that he had raised $2.2 million in the first quarter and has $4.4 million on hand as of April 1.

Four Republicans are fighting for the GOP nomination. They are George Allen, who lost the seat to Webb in 2006, Del. Bob Marshall, tea party leader Jamie Radtke and Chesapeake pastor E.W. Jackson.
